A police officer got more than he bargained for when he stopped a car in St. John’s Thursday night. The RNC say officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically in the city’s west end at around 9:30 p.m.

As police investigated, an officer was allegedly physically assaulted by one of the people in the car.

A man, 41, has been arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer and uttering threats.

Nobody was injured during the altercation. The accused was released to appear in court at a later date.
