Toronto police say an intoxicated man who got into a police cruiser because he thought it was a cab has been arrested on an outstanding warrant.

An officer had stopped to get gas at a police traffic services unit in Liberty Village on Hanna Avenue on Saturday night when the man climbed into the police car.

Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said police investigated and the man was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant.

A police tweet about the arrest drew a response from the Peel Paramedics Union.
