Coolpad is set to launch two new smartphones in India: Note 3S and Mega 3, and the company has sent out an official media invite for the same. Coolpad is launching both phones in India on November 30, and the event takes places soon after the company launched Coolpad Note 5 with 4GB RAM and a 4010 mAh battery at Rs 10,999.
Coolpad Note 3S and Mega 3 will be successors to the earlier Note 3 and Mega 2.5D smartphones and are expected to be priced under Rs 10,000 as well. While specifications of the new phones have not yet been confirmed by the company, they will be upgraded versions of the earlier phones.
Coolpad Mega 2.5D is a budget, selfie-focused smartphone and came with an 8MP front camera along with an 8MP rear camera as well. Coolpad Mega 2.5D has a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 294 ppi pixel density and is powered by a 1 GHz quad core Mediatek MT6735P processor, coupled with a Mali T720 GPU.
The phone comes with 3GB RAM with 16GB internal memory (expandable to 32GB via microSD) and is backed up by a 2500 mAh battery. This was a dual-SIM smartphone with VoLTE support. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with its own Cool UI 8.0 interface on top. We’ll have to see if the Mega 3 also continues with its focus on the selfie camera.
Coolpad Note 3 featured a 5.5-inch 720p HD IPS display along with a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash and a 5MP front camera. It has a 3,000 mAh battery, and runs the 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 CPU with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. The Note 3 was also one of the first devices under Rs 10,000 to sport a fingerprint scanner with 360-degree finger rotation. This was also a 4G enabled smartphone.
Given that the last couple of Coolpad phones have been Amazon exclusive, it is likely the new Mega 3 and Note 3S will also follow the same trend. We’ll have to wait and see what pricing and specifications are announced by the company on November 30.
