A 16-year-old student of Hyderabad’s Sri Chaitanya College committed suicide in her hostel room on Tuesday. A teenage girl committed suicide in her hostel room in Hyberabad’s Sri Chaitanya College as she didn’t want to study being away from home.
Sathvika, 16, was an intermediate first year student at the college. She committed suicide in her hostel room yesterday, after setting herself on fire, when other students were in college attending classes.
While the police found no suicide note but the investigation revealed that Sathvika had called her mother minutes before taking the extreme step, telling her that she didn’t want to stay in hostel.Police Inspector K Ramesh said, “At around 2:30pm, the students who came for lunch to the hostel noticed smoke coming out from Sathvika’s room. She had set herself on fire. When we reached, we just found her charred body. We shifted her to Gandhi Medical College hospital. We have taken samples from the body and the ash, to investigate it further.”
Sathvika had joined Sri Chaitany College earlier this year after passing out from Nizamabad’s Vishakha Public School.
Sucide of the young girl has shattered her parents who reached Hyderabad after hearing the news.
A case of suspicious death has been registered by Miyapuri Police. The postmortem report of the deceased is awaited.
