During the meeting matter relating to progress of public welfare projects especially China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) came under discussion.
“CPEC is a game-changer, as it will change the destiny of the region,” the Chief Minister said, adding, development projects under CPEC are being completed speedily.
Shehbaz said China is making a historic investment of $46 billion in Pakistan but Chinese investment will not be limited to only this amount but more investment come through that country.
He said that CPEC has opened the doors of foreign investment in Pakistan.
He said that vast job opportunities are being created as a result of Chinese investment of billions of dollars in the country.
He further said that CPEC will play an important role in elimination of terrorism and poverty alleviation in the region.
He said that Chinese investment of 46 billion dollars in Pakistan is a proof of confidence in the leadership and policies of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He said that work is being carried out vigorously on CPEC projects throughout the country.
Shehbaz said that speed, standard and transparency are the hallmark of these projects.
He said that implementation of CPEC has ushered in a new era of friendship and cooperation between China and Pakistan.
He said that economic cooperation between China and Pakistan will leave a positive impact on the entire region as people of different countries including Pakistan will benefit from CPEC projects.
Separately presiding over a meeting, CM Shehbaz has said that he would personally oversee progress in the completion of the Saaf Pani project going on under the Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme.
He said clean drinking water is essential for human health as such the government giving focus on its availability to the citizens as a matter of their right.
“Billions of rupees have been allocated for this purpose,” he said adding, like other projects, transparency, high quality and speed is the hallmark of “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme.
He said he would personally monitor implementation of the project.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Punjab government has set up separate companies for the speedy implementation of the programme in southern and northern Punjab.
He said that this decision will be helpful in speedy execution of the programme as it will promote a spirit of competition.
Additional Chief Secretary, CEO Urban Unit, Secretary Housing and concerned officials attended the meeting whereas Chairman Punjab Saaf Pani Company South Punjab Kashif Padhiyar MPA participated through video link.
