Chevrolet has finally revealed the production version of the 2016 Trailblazer SUV ahead of its official launch later this year. The new Trailblazer facelift makes its appearance just a couple of months after the carmaker showcased the concept version of the SUV – Trailblazer Premier Study, at the Bangkok Motor Show in March 2016. The SUV which has been revealed now is the Brazilian-spec version and mostly comes with cosmetic updates both for the exterior profile as well as the cabin. While the SUV will go on in Brazil sale next month itself, we do not expect to see the Trailblazer facelift to be launched in India before 2017.
In terms of design the 2016 Chevrolet Trailblazer largely remains unchanged except for some cosmetic additions made to its front section. The front end of the SUV now looks much more muscular and stylish thanks to the new bonnet, new headlamps with LED daytime running lights, redesigned twin-grille with chrome bordering and a muscular front bumper that houses the new air intakes and fog lamps. In fact, the side profile of the facelifted version is same as the outgoing model and same goes for the rear section as well.
The cabin on the other hand now gets quite a makeover with redesigned interior trim and an all-new dashboard. To give the SUV a more upmarket feel, the carmaker has designed the interior with more premium materials. In terms of features the SUV offers a slightly updated instrument cluster, silver accents around the central HVAC vents, and an 8-inch MyLink infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As far as safety features are concerned the SUV gets – lane-change assist, blind spot warning, front parking sensors, collision warning, tire pressure monitoring and reverse camera with cross-traffic alert.
Coming to engine options, the SUV will see no changes in powertrain and will continue to feature 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engine, which is paired to India-spec model churning out 200bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. Globally the SUV will continue to be offered in the 2.5-litre diesel engine option as well. Transmission duties will continue to be taken care of by a 6-speed automatic gearbox in both the engines.
