Just ahead of his sixth death anniversary in June, a 10-foot long statue of Michael Jackson has been unveiled in Chennai. Brainchild of Chandrasekaran, an MJ enthusiast, the statue has been sculpted out of a single piece of black granite.

‘King of Dance’ Prabhu Deva seemed quite excited while unveiling the statue of the ‘King of Pop’. The actor-director was seen doing MJ’s signature step at the do, that took place at Vels University.

Chandrasekaran said he had tried to send the statue to Jackson’s family and install it in Neverland Ranch, but was unable to do so.
The statue was made by six sculptors who took 45 days to chisel it out of a single piece of rock.
The sculptors repeatedly watched Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ music video to get his posture correct, and studied thousands of photographs to get his features correct.
The statue weighs 3.5 tonnes and has been donated to Vels University.
