A clash between members of Sikh and Valmiki groups took place today at Dalla village in Kapurthala over the alleged use of derogatory words against saint Valmiki by a Sikh preacher. Seven persons were injured.According to Kapurthala SSP Rajinder Singh, preacher Manpreet Singh of Baoli Sahib Gurdwara made derogatory remarks during ‘Katha Vachan’ following which a group of Valmiki community members reached the gurdwara. Members of the Satkar committee and SGPC also reached the spot. The two groups threw stones and bricks at each other.Manpreet was booked under Section 295-A of the IPC and also the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
