Capt begins 3-day kisan rath yatra from Chandigarh

Targeting the families of victims of farmer suicides, the Punjab Congress on Monday launched a three-day kisan rath yatra‎ from the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee office here.
With Capt Amarinder Singh on board, the bus will move through the Malwa region while visiting mandis to allow the state Congress chief to interact with farmers.
The widows of the farmer suicide victims flagged off the bus.
Speaking on the occasion, Amarinder said the party would roll out the roadmap for waiver of farmer loans.
With this, the state Congress is all set to highlight farmers’ woes at the ‘anaj mandis’ of the Malwa region in the ongoing paddy procurement season.

The kisan yatra will coincide with the ongoing outreach programme of Punjab Congress ‘Karza-Kurki Khatam, Fassal Di Poori Rakam’.
The scheduled visit of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to Punjab around Diwali has been postponed to the second week of November.
Party leaders said the yatra would see Amarinder travelling for three consecutive days to cover 500 km across eight districts of the Malwa region, using a mobile public address platform for impromptu meetings.
Beginning from Baghapurana, the bus yatra will touch Kotkapura, Faridkot, Muktsar and Ferozepur before ending at Bathinda. The state Congress chief is scheduled to visit 10 mandis.
