A bus driver was injured after a tourist coach collided with a tram in Melbourne’s city centre. Police say the driver was treated for head injuries after the collision on Friday morning at the intersection of William and La Trobe streets at around 10.30am.

There were no passengers on the bus and there are no reports of any injuries to tram passengers or the tram driver.

Witnesses said the force of the collision knocked the tram of its tracks, while one of the coach’s windows was smashed.

‘I think the bus was trying to do a hook turn and he didn’t see the tram,’ one tram passenger told the Herald Sun.

‘The bus driver was bleeding on his head, he had a big gash. I hope he’s OK.’
