Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Avtar Singh Makkar today said it was obvious who was behind the attack on religious preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale but that his duty was to bring about a compromise between two rival groups for the larger interest of the community.Makkar, who visited Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar to meet Dhadrianwale today, in reply to a specific question said, “Partakh nu parman di ki lorh (Something that is evident needs no proof).”Makkar was here to effect a patch-up between Dhadrianwale and Damdami Taksal head Harnam Singh Dhumma who have been blaming each other ever since the attack on Dhadrianwale.Makkar said it was a very serious issue and as SGPC head, it was his duty to meet both parties and help them reach a compromise.Makkar had met Dhumma on May 31 to convince Dhumma to refrain from making any adverse comments against Dhadrianwale or the government and Akal Takht. Makkar had also announced that a committee of Panthic leaders would be constituted to iron out the differences between the two warring factions.Makkar today met Dhadrianwale and held a closed-door meeting with the preacher, urging him to reach a compromise with the Dhumma faction.Coming out of the meeting, Makkar said he had already met Dhumma and Damdami Taksal was ready to bury the hatchet.Meanwhile, Dhadrianwale maintained that he wanted justice at any cost. “I have been time and again keeping my point of view in front of the sangat and will do so in front of the committee as well. I hope that the committee will give us justice and bring all guilty to book,” he said.
