The Border Security Force (BSF) today seized 8-kg of heroin, worth Rs 40 crore in international market, and a pistol at Jodhewala Bhaini village in Fazilka district.BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Eupen PV said the heroin had been seized from the fields of Jagtar Singh, a marginal farmer, who was later arrested.Sources said Pakistani smugglers across the border might have buried the heroin in Jagtar’s fields which was to be transported to other areas.They said Jagtar Singh’s son Tilak Singh was remained in jail for three years in a heroin smuggling case and was released about one-and-a-half year ago.Woman arrested with 1-kg smackSangrur: A team of the CIA, Bahadur Singh Wala, arrested a woman (45) with 1 kg of smack worth Rs 2 lakh from Deh Kalan village near Dhuri on Wednesday. She has been identified as Shinder Kaur of Kherri Jattan village. Sangrur SSP Pritpal Singh Thind said Kaur had hidden the contraband in an envelope. He added that Kaur was in the business of selling intoxicants for the past several years. Earlier, she was caught with 5 kg of poppy husk in 2008. In this case, she had undergone two-and-a-half months’ imprisonment.
