BSF today confiscated 3.75 kg of heroin concealed beneath crop residue in the fields ahead of the barbed fence near Pul Moran border outpost along the Indo-Pak border.Anil Paliwal, IG, BSF, said there were seven packets of heroin hidden by Pakistani smugglers to be retrieved by their Indian accomplices. But before the retrieval, the BSF seized the contraband.“Till now, the BSF has seized over 201 kg of heroin from Punjab frontiers, besides shooting six Pakistani smugglers and two Indian smugglers approaching the Indo-Pak border for drugs and arms smuggling,” said Paliwal. The BSF was already on high alert following the surgical strikes across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir last month. Continuous unprovoked firing and violation of ceasefire by Pakistani army mounted the tension at the LoC and there were strong intelligence inputs regarding militants waiting for infiltration for carrying out terrorist attacks. The manpower at the international border has been increased while patrolling was also enhanced. In view of the upcoming winter season when dense fog engulfs the region, the BSF maintained extra vigil with the help of surveillance equipment.
