Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his pride at seeing the Indian athletes compete at Rio 2016 Olympics even if the efforts are not resulting in medals at the moment. India suffered some harrowing and heartbreaking losses on day 3 such as that for Abhinav Bindra in the 10m air rifle final (lost by a margin of 0.5 in the shootout to come in fourth) and men’s hockey team losing 2-1 to Germany with a goal conceded with 3.1 seconds to spare. While author and columnist Shobhaa De mocked the Indian Olympians for being in Rio de Janeiro to take selfies, actor Bachchan Sr. has been more supportive of the Indian contingent’s efforts to get there and then put up a brave show. He also asked the athletes to not be affected by what someone else may suggest on the contrary in a Facebook post. In his post he said, “Indian teams at Rio 2016 Olympics .. we are very proud of you .. do not let the disappointing losses worry or perturb you .. just to see you all up there trying your best is such a moment of pride ..!Let anyone say anything, they have no idea of the struggle you all have been through to get to where you got to ..
Lets look around in comparison .. any of our neighbours even seen in distant horizon .. NO .. which is why we are proud of you .. COME ON INDIA .. !!!India is still waiting for the first medal from Rio Olympics but there’s still no reason to lose hope.
