Days of State Cricket associations making BCCI shift crucial matches for various reason will be over soon. The BCCI is planning to build a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in New Delhi. The cricket control body will own and run the stadium and marquee games like World Cup finals, IPL finals or matches between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will be hosted at this stadium. According to the daily, bitter experience with state associations, (for example, India-Pakistan T20 match during the World Cup was moved from Dharamshala for security reasons or decision by Bombay HC to move IPL matches out of Maharashtra) forced BCCI to come to this solution. BCCI chief Anurag Thakur proposed the idea before the working committee at the recently concluded meeting. “We will try to make it all weather stadium where we will have outstanding indoor and outdoor practice facilities. It will have a museum. Our vision would be to make it one of the best stadiums in the world,” said Thakur. The idea is still at the initial stage. But the board has zeroed in on Delhi. The new stadium might be erected at the outskirts of nation’s capital
