Sri Lanka will be happy with their work, things looked very gloomy for them before they took three wickets in the last half an hour to get the control back. Lakshan Sandakan was the best bowler for them, as all the Bangladesh batsmen struggled to pick him. He will hope for more support from his teammates, they will know that any lead on this surface could be handy. The visitors will aim to get as close to Sri Lanka’s total as possible first and then take the game from there. There is a lot at stake, do join us for all the action on Day 3 tomorrow at 1000 local (0430 GMT). Until then, it’s goodbye and take care!
Just as they say one brings two, Bangladesh lost the plot of the Test to an extent, going from 192 for 2 to 198 for 5. Taijul, the nighwatchman bagged a golden duck and Lakmal bounced out Sabbir who played well for 42. Shakib – playing a shot every ball, managed to see the day through, courtesy of a drop. The visitors still trail by 124 runs and they will know they have a lot of work left to be done.
The Bangladesh openers in Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar shared a fine opening stand of 95 runs to give them the platform. Tamim departed for 49 but Sarkar ensured he got to his half century. He though fell soon after to Sandakan. Just when Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman were starting to put pressure back on the hosts with a 62-run stand, the former missed a straight one and was dismissed lbw.
A brilliant day of Test cricket! Sri Lanka have finished the game on top. They started well scoring 100 runs in the first session with Dinesh Chandimal registering his fourth Test ton against Bangladesh. The hosts would have hoped to keep pressure on Bangladesh but that was not the case.
