Bathinda police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against Pearls Golden Forests (PGF) chairman and managing director, Nirmal Singh Bhangu. Apart from Bhangu, the case has been registered against Pearl Agrotech Corporation Limited managing director, Sukhdev Singh and directors, Gurmeet Singh and Subrata Bhattacharya.Bhangu and his company are already facing CBI probe for Rs 30,000 crore chit fund scam. A resident of Faridkot had filed a complaint that he had deposited Rs 1 lakh in 2010 for an investment scheme at Bathinda office of the company, but he never got the money back.An indebted young farmer ended his life by consuming a poisonous substance in Walayat Shah Wala village of Ferozepur district on Wednesday night. According to information, Gurdas Singh (22) was under financial stress after the death of his father. Sources said the father of the deceased had availed a bank loan to purchase a tractor, which he failed to repay even after selling 2.5 acres.
