Border districts of Pathankot and Gurdaspur have been put in a state of preparedness and alert following the Delhi Police special cell’s inputs to the Punjab Police about the possible infiltration of three terrorists from J&K.Lok Nath Angra, IG (Jalandhar), who also holds the additional charge of IG (Border), confirmed that two days ago the police had received some vital information from their Delhi counterparts. What confused the intelligence agencies today was the fact that a TV channel broadcast the old news following which an SOS was again sent to the border districts to start checking of vehicles.An officer said the Delhi Police had sent information that a car, laden with explosives and bearing registration number JK-01 AB-2654 was expected to enter Punjab from J&K. The terrorists could be planning to attack Delhi, Goa and Mumbai, as per the inputs.An alert sent out by the Punjab Police warned their personnel across the state: A grey Swift car with three Pakistani terrorists and “a local” is packed with explosives, including a suicide belt.Led by Pathankot SSP RK Kaushal, a team checked vehicles on the Pathankot-Jammu national highway, while his Gurdaspur counterpart Jagdeep Singh Hundal pitched tent on the Gurdaspur-Pathankot highway. This stretch of road was thoroughly searched on April 2 after a former Armyman claimed to have seen a group of heavily armed men entering an orchard.The Delhi Police had also issued an alert on January 22 after the driver of an Alto car, hired by three people from Pathankot, was found dead near the national capital. Days before that Punjab cops were asked to be on their toes after the car of an ITBP Inspector General-rank officer had gone missing.
