An ALERT investigation has resulted in the arrest of seven suspects, after four Grande Prairie homes were searched earlier in the week. The homes were searched by members of ALERT Grande Prairie’s organized crime and gang team on November 16, 2016.
Police said the following items were seized: a loaded handgun with the serial number defaced, two shotguns, 253 grams of cocaine, 6 grams of heroin, 78 grams of crack cocaine, 14 grams of methamphetamine, 40 grams of marijuana, and $6,695 cash proceeds of crime.
In total, items seized have an estimated value of $40,000.
In one of the homes, investigators found three young children living amongst drug trafficking paraphernalia, cocaine, and a loaded, unsecure shotgun. The children have been placed in the care of a family member, and the parents, a 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested. The parents will not be identified.
Now, John Wilson, 27, Lydia Dafoe, 26, Karman Singh Grewal, 19, Ronjot Sing Dhami, 23, and Allen Connal, 32, and the other two suspects are facing a total of 38 drug and firearms offences.
The investigation started in late October, after ALERT received information about drug activity in the Grande Prairie area.
