do plan to make a sequel of Happy Bhaag Jayegi. The discussions are on how to take the story forward.
Anand sir (producer Anand L Rai), too, thinks a sequel can be made…he has given a positive feedback to this
idea,” director Mudassar Aziz told PTI.
However, Aziz said as of now he doesn’t have any concrete story idea for the second part of the romantic
comedy. “Till the time we are convinced about the story, we will not make the film,” he said.
Besides Deol and Diana, the film also featured Jimmy Shergill, Ali Fazal and Momal Sheikh in the lead roles.
According to Aziz, it’s too early to throw light on the casting of the sequel.
Released on August 18, the film has garnered Rs 22.11 crore at the box office in India and Aziz is
overwhelmed with the audience’s response.
“It just makes me a lot happier,” he adds.’
In Happy Bhaag Jayegi review, Indian Express critic Shubhra Gupta wrote, “The premise of Happy Bhag
Jayegi, promises you some good chuckles because, well, who doesn’t like the idea of a pretty girl on the run
in search of her Prince Charming? And the Pakistani locations—the scenic spots around Lahore– should
inject some freshness, right?”
“We smile in the beginning. Spirited Amritsar kudi Happy’s (Diana Penty) heart beats for Guddu (Ali Fazal) but
the path of true love is strewn with stern fathers (Kanwaljeet), local bad boy rival Bagga (Jimmy Shergill) and
an accidental Pakistani gentleman named Bilal Ahmed (Abhay Deol), she added.
