He has had his share of ups and downs in his film career. However, while on one hand actor Abhay Deol accepts that Bollywood is a tough place to survive, he also says he won’t ever let it bog him down.
“It’s a tough industry. I’ve set out to make a particular kind of cinema and I have stuck to it. I would rather focus on being fortunate enough to do that and not cave in,” says Deol.
The actor, who is veteran actor Dharmendra’s nephew, is glad to have come across filmmakers who believe in his creativity. “Luckily I have a few people who share my vision and I hope that they are in the position of power to materialise it like they have. I would choose to focus on that rather than on thinking that I am underutilized or unappreciated,” says the actor, who was recently seen playing the role of Bilal in the film Happy Bhag Jayegi.
Deol, who has worked in directorial debuts of filmmakers such as Imtiaz Ali, Reema Kagti and Devika Bhagat, says, “When I started our, the kind of stuff I wanted to make, only new directors and new comers had it. They were not tainted with the experience of how difficult it is to keep vision intact. They just came in with their ideals and vision and perseverance to see it through. As long as I meet people like that with talent I will continue making films.”
