Aam Aadmi Party activists on Thursday flayed the Abohar Municipal Council for “substandard” construction work on the Indira Nagari road that links the rest of the town with the main cremation ground.AAP activists Prof PS Sidhu, Ram Singh Bishnoi and Surinder Saluja said the level of streets had gone down by one foot as the council had raised the height of the main road. This, they said, spoke volumes of technical blunder committed by the engineering staff. The colony streets would again get inundated with sewage as the disposal system was “erratic”, they said. They said dirty water had accumulated in some streets today also. They alleged that substandard material had been used and none of the officials bothered to inspect works. The party leaders demanded that samples of the material used in the reconstruction of road should be tested by a state-run laboratory.
