A 72-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son with a sword following a spat over the former’s addiction to liquor at Lopo village in Nihalsinghwala subdivision of Moga district. The deceased was Darshan Singh and the incident took place late on Wednesday night when he came home in a drunken state.His son Sukhwinder Singh objected to his habit of drinking liquor daily. After an altercation between the duo, Sukhwinder allegedly took out his sword and attacked his father in a fit of anger. The old man died on the spot, after which his son fled.Inspector Gurpiar Singh of the Badhni Kalan police station reached the spot soon after the incident and took the body into custody.The police recorded the statement of Darshan’s daughter Binder Kaur. His other daughter Charanjit Kaur was also a witness to the incident, the police said. The police have booked Sukhwinder under Section 302 of the IPC and launched a hunt to nab him.
