Police said Gurpreet had been taking tuition classes from one Mangat Ram, a neighbour of the family, who had been living in a rented accommodation in the area.
A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy was murdered in Malko village, near Lambra, in Jalandhar Tuesday. The body was found in a cupboard of a house in the neighbourhood. The police identified the deceased as Gurpreet alias Gopi.
Police said Gurpreet had been taking tuition classes from one Mangat Ram, a neighbour of the family, who had been living in a rented accommodation in the area.
Two days ago, as he along with his family were away in Chintpurni, a man who claimed to be a relative stayed at his house.Ashok Kumar, the father of the victim, said the person told him that he would tutor Gurpreet in Mangat’s absence and thus they had sent the boy to the house.
When Gurpreet did not return, his mother went to Mangat’s house. Mangat’s relative told her that Gurpreet was finishing his homework. When she went to Mangat’s house later in the evening, she found that the house was locked.
The parents then approached the police. A police team entered the house found the body stuffed in a cupboard. The victim’s hands and legs were tied. “A probe is on,” said a police officer.
