Go Ape closed immediately following the accident and customers received refunds. Delaware Online reported that staff members appeared visibly shaken after the incident.
“The Go Ape team is deeply saddened by this tragic occurrence,” Chris Swallow, director of Go Ape, said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends and in particular to those who were on the course with her at the time.”
Several Go Ape customers told Delaware Online that they’ve always felt safe while riding the zip line and that the company offers training before customers take part on the ride. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
