Five teenaged boys from Niagara Falls, Ont., are facing charges following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault on an 18-year-old woman.

Niagara regional police say the woman had gone to a party in St. Catharines, Ont., in August and went with a group of males to a location in nearby Thorold, Ont., where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

They say the five boys were arrested on Wednesday with the assistance of school resource officers.

Investigators say all five suspects were known to the complainant.

They say the five boys – four 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old – are charged with sexual assault and being a party to the offence of sexual assault.

Police say the accused, who can’t be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are being held in custody pending a bail hearing Thursday in St. Catharines court.
