A 40-year-old Toronto man has been charged with assault for allegedly attacking a parking enforcement officer near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue last week.

According to a Toronto Police news release, the incident occurred in the Forest Laneway and Doris Avenue area at about 12 midnight on Thursday.

Police said the man got into an argument with the parking enforcement officer as the officer was writing a ticket for him.

The man’s van was blocking a disabled ramp and partly blocking a fire route. According to police, the assault followed the argument.

The man is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20, 2016.
