The local police today nabbed a gang of four women for allegedly blackmailing and threatening to implicate innocent youth after marrying them.The accused women have been identified as Palwinder Kaur, a resident of Bakana village near Kurukshetra (Haryana) and Gurvinder Kaur, Santosh Rani and Anita Rani, all residents of Patiala.The accused have been booked under Sections 420, 506, 494 and 120-B of the IPC. They were produced in the court which remanded them in police custody for further investigation.ASI Saswat Kumar said Davinder Singh of Daleep Nagar, Mandi Gobindgarh, in his complaint to the police had said he received a call from Gurvinder Kaur pressurising him to marry Palwinder Kaur on February 14.Davinder said they went to Patiala where Gurvinder and her accomplice Santosh Rani and Anita Rani took Rs 50,000 from him and performed the marriage. He returned to Mandi Gobindgarh along with his wife Palwinder Kaur.He further said Palwinder started fighting with him soon after the marriage and told him that she did not want to stay here as she wanted to live in Patiala and added that she was already married twice.He said his wife along with her accomplices started threatening him to implicate in dowry case besides threatening to eliminate him. The accused also filed a complaint against his family members on helpline no 181 stating that her in-laws had kept her locked in a room. However, the police found the complaint false after inquiry.
