Four suspects are in police custody after a flurry of apparently random, violent robberies at The Forks on Monday night. Police said they were called to the popular gathering spot around 11:30 p.m. and found “several” victims who had been confronted by armed suspects.

The suspects had assaulted and robbed people and also damaged vehicles, police spokeswoman Patrol Sgt. Andree Huberdeau said. The attacks were apparently random, she said.

“The victims were not targeted in any specific fashion,” said Huberdeau. Nobody was seriously injured, she added.

Police did not release the names or ages of the suspects, but said their investigation is in its early stages.

There may be further victims or witnesses, police said. The Forks security is cooperating fully with police, said Chelsea Thomson, manager of marketing and communications for The Forks North Portage Partnership.

Thomson said she wasn’t sure if anyone involved was a patron. Most businesses on site close at 9 p.m., she said.

“Unfortunately The Forks is not immune to crime, but incidents are few and far between, and we take them very seriously,” said Thomson. Whenever an incident occurs, safety policies are reviewed, she added.

They’re asking anyone with information to call 204-986-6668.
