The Moga police today claimed to have arrested four members of a gang, which allegedly looted Rs 60 lakh by forcibly stopping a car hired by the bank to transport cash and brutally killing the guard before fleeing away with the money on May 23.The police recovered Rs 7.5 lakh from the arrested, but the kingpin of the gang and four others are still at large.Ferozepur Range DIG RS Khatra while talking to mediapersons here said the arrested gangsters had been identified as Jugraj Singh, alias Jagga, originally hailing from Buttar Kalan village but currently living in Bhagta Bhai village; Baljinder Singh and Rinku of Rajeana village and Ranjit Singh of Vairoke village.He said two pistols along with few live cartridges and a Swift car had also been recovered from their possession.The DIG said they were arrested during a special checking drive on the link road between Budhsinghwala and Rajeana villages.During interrogation, it came to light that Ranjit Singh drove the car transporting bank cash for the past many months. The other three arrested were his friends.They all are members of a famous gang of robbers and contract killers headed by Gagandeep Singh, alias Gagna, of Hathur village (Jagraon). Its other members include Manpreet Singh and Navdip Singh of Buttar Kalan and Lavpreet Singh of Sudhaar village. The rest of the looted money was reportedly with Gagna.
