Police have charged a 35-year-old man with a string of offences after uncovering several weapons, including a rifle and homemade silencer, in his car during a traffic stop in Perth’s east. The man was allegedly speeding when he was pulled over by police on Roe Highway at the intersection of Lewis Jones Cross and Toodyay Road in Stratton in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police searched the vehicle and uncovered a replica handgun, a bolt-action rifle with a silencer fitted and ammunition.
They also seized night-vision goggles, a dagger, three meat cleavers, a smoking implement and a sum of cash.
The man from Millendon, in Perth’s north-east, has been charged with a range of possession offences and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on Monday
