Man has been arrested for the brutal head-butt of a senior citizen at the Eaton Centre last weekend. Toronto Police say the innocent victim — a 68-year-old woman — was simply shopping in the mall at Yonge and Dundas Sts. on Saturday when she was suddenly attacked without provocation.
“It was just horrible,” Det. Paul Ward said this week, after viewing video of the incident captured by mall security cameras.
The 52 Division investigator said the man looked at the senior, head-butted her and knocked her down with a chest bump, then walked away.
The victim was treated in hospital for a head injury and broken wrist, which Ward said was suffered as she tried to break her fall.
Police say the release of suspect images on Tuesday resulted in tips from the public and led to an arrest within 24 hours.
Jonathan Gallant, of Toronto, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of aggravated assault.
The accused is expected to appear in court at Old City Hall for a bail hearing on Thursday.
