The incident took place at Ramgarh Kothari village under Baharia police station area of Allahabad district late Saturday evening.Three sisters, including a married woman, sustained severe burn injuries on their faces and eyes after two motorcycle-borne men allegedly threw acid on them while they were returning home after reliving themselves in the fields. Police have registered an FIR against two unidentified men. No one has been arrested so far.
“Victims sustained 15 to 20 per cent burn injuries. We are investigating why they were attacked. The victims could not provide any information about the attackers,” said station officer, Baharia police station, Ashwani Kumar Singh.
The victims’ families have ruled out any dispute with anyone, the SO added. As per the police, Radha got married in July this year and had recently come to her parents’ home. The other two girls are still pursuing education.
According to the SO, on Saturday evening, the trio went to the fields around 400 metres away from their house, to relieve themselves. While they were returning home, two men riding a motorcycle, with their faces covered, came from behind and stopped in front of them. The pillion rider then threw acid on them.
As the victims screamed for help, the miscreants escaped from the spot. Some locals who reached there after hearing the screams, rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, from where they were referred to SRN Medical College for treatment, added the SO.
