Three people are in custody after they tried to evade police in a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning. According to police, the K9 unit found a stolen vehicle at Avenue H and 22 Street around 1:50 a.m. Sunday. Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the occupants fled the area.
Stop sticks were deployed at 20 Street and Avenue H. The driver of the stolen vehicle lost control and hit a fire hydrant at the corner of 18 Street and Avenue H. The three occupants fled the vehicle on foot.
Air One tracked two suspects running from the vehicle to the 400 block of Avenue I south. One person tried to hide on the roof of a house and another hid under a vehicle in the back yard of a different residence.
The third suspect was found and arrested by a bicycle patrol officer. The officer sustained a shoulder injury in the arrest and his bicycle was damaged.
The city of Saskatoon shut off the water supply to the broken hydrant.
The three suspects are in custody and are facing multiple charges, including evading police and possessing stolen property. They will appear before a Justice of the Peace on Sunday.
