A TRAX train derailed Sunday afternoon in Salt Lake City, injuring three people. The Green Line Train went off the tracks at about 2:30 near 2100 South and 200 West, Utah Transit Authority PIO Remi Barron said, causing injuries to three people. None of the injuries were serious, Barron said.
As the train headed south from Central Point Station, Barron said it went toward a curve to the right, which trains generally take no faster than 20 or 25 miles per hour. He said the cause of the derailment was still under investigation at about 5:30 p.m.
The Blue and Red Line Trains were still running Sunday evening, UTA establishing a bus bridge to transport riders to stops at Central Point Station and River Trails on either side of the derailment.
Barron said UTA expects to have the Green Line service in the area fixed ahead of the Monday morning commute, but that riders should check on updates in the early morning before traveling.
