Acting on a tip-off by the state police’s Special Task Force (STF), the district police today arrested three gangsters who were travelling in a Swift car on the Bathinda road here. A .32-bore revolver was seized from their possession.However, a group of Scorpio-borne gangsters managed to escape.Sources said the Swift, bearing a fake registration number, sped past a naka, while the Scorpio took a U-turn on seeing the barricade. The cops intercepted the Swift near Sangu Dhaun village and arrested the gangsters. They were identified as Sukhbir Singh alias Sukha of Rurka village in Jalandhar, Ravinder Kumar alias Sonu of Phagwara and Pritpal alias Preet of Fazilka.Gurpreet Singh Gill, SSP, said, “These youths are facing cases of murder and land grab.”Sources claimed that these criminals had come here to avenge the killing of a youngster outside Government College in 2014.e
