The Moga police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers by arresting three youths, including a drug smuggler who ran away from the police custody a few weeks ago.SSP Harjit Singh Pannu said with the arrest of these three youths as many as 15 cases of burglary, robberies and a case of murder in the region had been solved.The arrested have been identified as Sukhdeep Singh, alias Seepa, Jaswant Singh, alias Keelu, and Arshdeep Singh, all residents of Manuke village. Arshdeep had fled from the district hospital along with handcuffs with the help Seepa and Keelu on June 24.The SSP said nine motorcycles, gas cylinders, inverters, batteries, gas cutter, handcuffs, 530 gm of intoxicant powder (a chemical formulation of drugs) and Rs 40,000 cash had been recovered from their possession. Both Seepa and Keelu were produced before a local court, which sent them to two-day police remand for further investigations.During investigations, the youths admitted to have killed 70-year old Harnek Singh on November 11, 2015. A murder case has already been registered against them at the Nihalsinghwala police station.Pannu said the SHO of the Charik police station, Harry Boparai, arrested two of them during a special naka on the outskirts of Gholia Khurd village late last night.The youths were found under the influence of drugs and could not give a satisfactory reply due to which they were taken to the police station and interrogated by the police.The police arrested Arshdeep from his hideout today morning.
