The police have arrested three persons in a case in which a 45-year-old gangster was shot dead on May 8 in Faridkot. The Faridkot police said the mastermind was inspired by a Bollywood movie to kill his rival gang leader. The mastermind, Harish Kumar alias Kaka Nepali, was in the Nabha jail at the time his rival Devinder Singh Deva was shot dead in Faridkot on the morning of May 8. The police believe that Nepali hired three shooters, two of Faridkot and one of Ludhiana, to eliminate his rival Deva. Besides Nepali, those arrested are Dapinder Singh alias Pintu, who is a nephew of a police official, and Harpreet Singh alias Kala.Sources in police said Nepali and his close aide in Faridkot jail wanted to “take revenge” for the murder of their close associate Rohit Chawla alias Dadu in Faridkot on February 3, 2012. In this case, Deva was nominated as a prime accused. He and his two associates had surrendered before the police but Deva was acquitted by the court last year.
