Man is accused of aggravated assault following an incident late Wednesday night that led to another man needing treatment in hospital. According to police, officers were dispatched at 11:54 p.m. CST to respond to a call about a weapons offence.

They learned that a 31-year-old man had been assaulted with a weapon. The alleged victim, who had made his way to the 100 block of Garnet Street, was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they believe the assault took place on the 1600 block of Rae Street. Officers went to a home on that street where they arrested the suspect in the case.

In addition to a charge of aggravated assault, the 29-year-old man is also charged with uttering threats. The suspect made his first appearance in court Thursday morning.
