RCMP said the driver lost control while attempting to go over an embankment, which resulted in the ATV rolling on top him.
“Prior to police arrival witnesses attempted to resuscitate the man, and upon arrival police attempted as well. However, he died at the scene as a result of his injuries,” said Cpl. Dal Hutchinson.
Hutchinson said RCMP have ruled out speed and alcohol as factors in the collision.
ATV crash in Digby
The Lunenburg County incident was the second major ATV collision on Saturday. Earlier in the day, RCMP responded to a report of an ATV crash in Digby, N.S.
RCMP said around 10:30 a.m., a man with a passenger on board lost control of an ATV while driving on a residential driveway on Highway 217. The ATV ended up in the ditch and both riders were injured.
The driver was airlifted to the QEII in Halifax with serious injuries, while the passenger was taken to hospital in Kentville. Both men are from the Digby area, RCMP said.
