Two ultra-modern automated driving tracks would be started in the district at Hoshiarpur and Dasuya. After passing the learning and driving licence test, people would be issued licence online. Being opened under Automated Driving Test, Online Licence and Training Centre, the set-up would prove to be beneficial as people would be given driving licence facility on the spot after they pass the driving test. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal would inaugurate the Hoshiarpur track on April 21.The driving tracks in Hoshiarpur and Dasuya have been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.20 crore each and have come up over 1.5 acres and 1 acre of land, respectively.A total of 32 modern driving test centres are being set up in the state as per international standards to bring transparency in the Transport Department.Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, Anindita Mitra said for two-wheelers the test would be conducted on a serpentine track and for four-wheelers, there would be a gradient test besides parallel parking test. The specially designed track would have a biometric system, a webcasting camera, beam sensors and vibration sensors etc.The Deputy Commissioner said to impart training in driving, an MoU had been signed with Maruti Suzuki for setting up a driving centre. She said the Hoshiarpur district transport office would conduct the test and training would be imparted by Maruti Suzuki Private Limited.She added the centre was being launched as part of Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal’s endeavour to bring changes under governance reforms.
