The district police have arrested three drug smugglers allegedly involved in the supply of drugs in the state.The police recovered 60 bags, approximately 24 quintal of poppy husk, from their vehicle.HS Bhullar, Senior Superintendent of Police, said at a naka near Dadheri village, he signalled a canter (PB-13V-9912) to stop but the driver fled.The police chased the canter for a long distance during which the driver also tried to hit the police vehicle.When the truck was finally intercepted, the police found 60 bags of poppy husk.The accused are Rajinder Singh and Abdul Gaffar of Malerkotla and Boota Singh of Jalandhar.He said they admitted that they used to bring poppy husk and opium from Rajasthan and were going to deliver the consignment in Jagraon and Jalandhar.
