Vancouver police are investigating after the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered inside an East Vancouver home.

Officers were called to a house on Dieppe Place near Dieppe Drive around 10 p.m. Saturday night. A man and woman were found inside the home, and pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.

The cause of their deaths was not immediately clear, and an investigation is ongoing.

Residents living in the area woke up Sunday morning to police tape cordoning off their homes.

“We don’t know anything about it. I don’t think anybody knows in our neighbourhood. Everybody’s shocked,” said Nives Kinkala, who has lived in the area since 1973.

“I thought it was a safe neighbourhood, and it seems like really nice people around here. But you never know I guess,” said Roberto, who preferred to keep his last name anonymous. Investigators with the VPD said no further information would be released at this time.
