Two men have been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault early Friday morning, say Winnipeg police.

Tristan Provinciano, 29, and Danny Morgado, 33, have both been charged with sexual assault along with multiple weapons offences.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of a sexual assault in a hotel located on the 1700 block of Wellington Avenue.

Winnipeg police said a group of men were drinking alcohol in a hotel room when a dispute broke out and two men began assaulting an 18-year-old woman.

As the alleged assault continued, police said the victim was threatened with a shotgun after which a “serious sexual assault occurred.”

Along with sexual assault, Provinciano faces a total of 15 weapons offences and a robbery charge. Provinciano was arrested while getting into a stolen vehicle, said police.

Morgado faces charges of sexual assault, robbery, assault to cause bodily harm, forcible confinement and 20 weapons offences.

Police said while attempted to arrest him, Morgado entered into another allegedly stolen vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. In the process, the vehicle slammed into a police cruiser and collided with a parked car.

Morgado then attempted to flee on foot and was arrested on the 1300 block of McDermot Avenue at approximately 1:05 a.m., said police. Both Morgado and Provinciano are in custody.
