Two police officers were shot Thursday night in San Diego, police said. The San Diego Police Department said on Twitter that officers were searching for whoever was responsible for the shooting in the 3800 block of Boston Avenue. About 12:30 a.m., police confirmed on Twitter that they had one suspect in custody and were searching for more.

Officers descended upon the city’s Southcrest neighborhood, swarming the area in a manhunt. Police asked residents to shelter in their homes.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting, which occurred about 11 p.m. The condition of the officers was not known.

The incident comes as police in Southern California — and throughout the country — are on high alert following the killing of officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, La., earlier this month.
