Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah addressed a press conference in Karachi today and let out details over arrests. CM Shah said that Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) copped two militants named Ishaq and Asim in Liaquatabad area and the weapons possessed by them matched at least 28 terror attacks across the city.

He asserted that firing in mourners’ gathering on October 27 in Nazimabad that left five locals killed was executed by the two arrested terrorists.

Huge cache of weapons was recovered from gunmen’s possession, he said.

Slain qawwal Amjad Sabri was also fatally targeted by the two arrested miscreants on June 23, according to the government.

Late Sabri, aged 45, who hailed from a noted family of qawwals, was shot dead as he travelled by car from his residence in Korangi area to a television studio during the holy month of Ramazan.

As reported then, a motorcycle pulled up alongside the vehicle and the attackers opened fire.

Both the terrorists arrested are also said to targeted vehicle of Military Police last December that saw martyrdom of two personnel.

The vehicle was attacked near Tibet Centre on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi and constable Rashid and lance naik Arshad lost their lives.

A case was lodged in Parady Police Station.

It should be noted here that both the attacks came when Pakistan Rangers were guarding the province and the metropolis.

Rangers’ stay is extended every three months by the federal government under the Constitution of Pakistan to curb crime incidence unless the federation decides to end the targeted operation.
