Two labourers were killed when a truck ran over them at Rana village in Fazilka district on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Gurdeep Singh (50) of Shamshabad village and Harbans Singh (35) of Teja Rohela village in Fazilka. The incident took place when the labourers were returning home after getting the wheat unloaded.

Dr Amarpal Singh, Chief Executive, Punjab Energy Development Agency, said the state was all set to notify its Energy Conservation Building Code soon. He said its implementation would reduce about 30-40 per cent of energy consumption in new commercial buildings as compared to the conventional buildings, reducing 15,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission. The police on Thursday claimed to have solved the double murder case of an elderly man and his wife with the arrest of their son. He had allegedly administered sleeping pills to them and slit their throats on May 25 at their residence in Malout town. The bodies of Satpal Batra (72) and his wife Krishna Kumari (69) were found from their residence on April 29.
