Two men, aged 27 and 30, are dead following what RCMP are calling a homicide and a suicide at the Canoe Lake Cree First Nation Saturday.

No names were released and RCMP said they were not seeking additional suspects in the case, adding “there is no risk to public safety.”

They said the two dead men were known to each other.

According to RCMP, officers were alerted to a report of gunfire at a home on the reserve, which is in Saskatchewan’s northwest, at 2:43 p.m. CST.

They said the 27 year old was found inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene.

Their investigation continued and RCMP said that at 4:49 p.m., the 30 year old was found with an apparent gunshot wound in a treed area. He was also dead at the scene.

RCMP said autopsies will take place in Saskatoon next week.

Canoe Narrows, the community that is home to the reserve’s administration, is about 425 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
