2 dead after car crashes into tree near Maffra

Two men have died and another has been flown to the hospital after their ute crashed into a tree in Victoria’s south-east. Victoria Police said a passerby saw the accident on the Stockdale-Fernbank Road at Stockdale near Maffra in East Gippsland shortly before 9:00am.

Police said the car left the road and hit a tree.

The survivor, a 63-year-old man from Bushy Park, suffered critical head injuries and was flown to a Melbourne hospital.

The two passengers, a 45-year-old man and a 60-year-old man from Briagolong, died at the scene. Police are investigating the crash.
