Two passengers were killed and 27 injured when a passenger train rammed into a stationary goods train near Cuttack railway station Thursday evening.
Railway officials said the Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak passenger train hit a stationary goods train around 6.30 pm. Two bogies, which were mostly occupied by daily wagers, were toppled by the impact. The critically injured have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Doctors said the condition of three persons was critical. Following the incident, trains along the route were halted. Accident relief and medical equipment vans, along with Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force teams, rushed to the spot for rescue operations. The rescue teams used gas cutter to extricate the trapped passengers.
